The Best Sounds of Wichita: Where to Find Live Music

Live music is everywhere in Wichita. There are many music venues, from restaurants, bars, and nightclubs to concert performances at the Intrust Bank Arena, The Cotillion, and WAVE.

Wichita residents and visitors can enjoy live music year-round at the jazz clubs and concert venues. Residents of Westborough Arms Apartments and Townhomes will find most of the music locations in the downtown area.

Intrust Bank Arena

The  Intrust Bank Arena will host a series of live shows during the year. This is a major venue for a variety of entertainers, from country music to rock, and even a circus. Sports events are also scheduled for the arena. Check out the listings for upcoming events and ticket purchases.

This is a major state-of-the-art entertainment and sports venue that can also host conventions and smaller meetings. It is located in the heart of downtown Wichita, with a seating capacity of 15,000. This includes 22 suites and 40 loge boxes. 

The Cotillion

The Cotillion began in the 1950s as a venue for children's concerts. It grew in a prime location for both local talent and big names in the music industry. This is another popular venue in Wichita for concerts, comedians, stage shows, and dances. This is also a popular site for meetings, trade shows, and other big events.

The building features a unique circular design with wooden beams supporting a 24-foot-high domed ceiling. The 28,500-square-foot building has a maximum concert capacity of 2,000 people. The facility features an 11,000-square-foot floating hardwood dance floor and a stage with a neon-lit band shell.

WAVE

This is a concert venue located in Downtown Wichita. The outdoor community space is where concerts and other events take place. The indoor space features a lounge with a selection of craft beers.

Kirby's Beer Store

This "dive bar" has been a cornerstone of Wichita's live-music "underground scene" since 1972. New hard rock bands, along with jazz bands, have performed here in an environment that welcomes everyone. Kirby's Beer Store has an indoor and an outdoor stage for performances year-round.

Kirby's Flipside Pinball Arcade is located next door. This is a retro-inspired pinball arcade with vintage pinball machines open to children and adults.

The Brickyard

This bar is Wichita's premier outdoor music venue, located downtown. Live music is staged at The Brickyard from mid-March through early November on the outdoor stage. Liveshows feature local talent and regional musicians. Special DJ and EDM shows are also offered. Food and drinks are served by Public, a farm-to-table family restaurant, all year round. A covered patio is used during the off-season. The Brickyard was originally a building from a family business.

Mortdecai's Tavern and Eatery

Mortdecai's Tavern and Eatery is a laid-back spot serving pub food, drinks, live bands, and sporting events. Live entertainment is offered every Friday and Saturday evenings, featuring top local bands in the Wichita area.

Wichita Union Stockyards

This is a new dancehall with live entertainment. The Wichita Union Stockyards is located where the Chisholm Trail crosses Cowskin Creek. The 3,000-square-foot dance floor is open every weekend with a live band or a DJ. Live bands are scheduled on Saturdays, while dance lessons are offered monthly on Friday evenings. Live Near it All at Westborough Arms Apartments and Townhomes

Located in West Wichita, the Westborough Arms is a short drive to the New Market Square and Dwight D Eisenhower Airport. The two-bedroom apartments and two and three-bedroom townhomes. Amenities include covered parking, a swimming pool, laundry, and ample storage space.
