Wichita is home to the original Pizza Hut. The franchise was started in 1958. The building was actually moved from its original location and now sits on the Wichita State University campus. The first Pizza Hut doesn’t have the iconic trapezoidal windows and tiered roof because this was before they implemented the brand design.

This is fast food history. Unfortunately, it does not serve pizza. The nearest active Pizza Hut is about 4 miles away on E 37th St N. The Original Pizza Hut is an important part of Wichita history.

The Frank Lloyd Wright’s Allen House is built in the Prairie School style of architecture. The home was finished in 1918, making it more than a century old! The house exhibits Wright’s take on prairie life by allowing guests to interact with natural surroundings and feel as though they are living among nature.

The Ulrich Museum of Art is home to Personnages Oiseaux by Joan Miró. The mural is a 28 by 52-foot glass mosaic outside the museum. Who is Joan Miró? He was a Spanish sculptor and ceramicist whose work is considered Surrealism and Expressionism. In 1972, Miró started Personnages Oiseaux (Bird People) and by 1978 it was installed. Personnages Oiseaux is the only large-scale glass mosaic by Miró.
